Roberto Corrêa de Lima, known worldwide as Gordo, has been teaching Jiu-Jitsu for 20 years. Gordo Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Barra da Tijuca is one of the most respected academies in Brazil and has succeeded in forming great champions in both jiu-jitsu and MMA.

A resident of Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, he started training jiu-jitsu in 1986, at the age of 15, influenced by his close friend Ralph Gracie.

A purple belt at 18 years old, he suffered a serious knee injury and had to readapt to training, therefore developing the half guard position and becoming known as the “offensive half guard creator”. Currently, this is one of the most used positions in jiu-jitsu and MMA.

In 1993, at the age of 22 he was graded black belt and won many national and international competitions, which included winning the world championship 2 times.

Throughout his career, he has taught at prestigious academies such as: Gracie Recreio, with Ralph Gracie, Gracie Ipanema with Renzo Gracie and Gracie Ribeirão Preto.

Gordo is an experienced athlete with very offensive jiu-jitsu skills.   He now teaches at Largo da Barra and Novo Leblon academies.
